From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Margot Robbie has shared the first look at her appearance as Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The Australian actor is playing the modelling film star wife of Roman Polanski who was murdered in her home by the Manson family on 8 August 1969 in the tenth film from filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. She shared a photo of herself in character as Tate on her Instagram page which you can see below.

Robbie joins an all-star ensemble including Brad Pitt, Burt Reynolds, Dakota Fanning, Damien Lewis and her Wolf of Wall Street co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.

In May, she described working with Pulp Fiction director Tarantino as “...something I've always dreamed of doing,” adding: “I want to see how he runs a set, and how he directs people, and what the vibe is onset, and what's in the script, and then what happens on the day. I'm just fascinated by all of it, fascinated. So it's going to be a crazy experience to witness it firsthand.”

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set in 1969 Los Angeles and follows struggling stars Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), the former star of a Western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) who tap up their famous next-door neighbour for a helping hand - Sharon Tate (Robbie).

The film will be released in August 2019.
