From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Nicolas Cage has had a wild career, the actor amazing audiences in critical darlings (such as Leaving Las Vegas, Raising Arizona, and Adaptation) and thrilling with blockbuster action flicks (Kick-Ass, National Treasure, Gone in 60 Seconds).
However, the last few years have not been good Cage. The 54-year-old has been pumping out awful VOD movie after VOD movie – 211, The Humanity Bureau, Vengeance: A Love Story, Arsenal, Army of One, The Trust have all come out within the last three years.
And while there have been blimps of brightness (last year’s Mom and Dad) the upcoming horror Mandy looks set to give Cage the starring role this once great actor deserves.
Directed by Panos Cosmatos, the film – which has already debuted at film festivals to overwhelmingly positive reviews – has received a trailer, showcasing the colourful thriller, which also stars Andrea Riseborough, Linus Roache, and Richard Brake.
Mandy currently has a US release date of 14 September.
