Your support makes all the difference.Before you get carried away in anger that Hollywood are even considering remaking Brian De Palma's crime classic Scarface, remember that the 1983 film is itself a remake of an even-more-classic property - namely the 1932 black-and-white film of the same name from Howard Hawks and Richard Rosson.
This new version - again, like the two before it, being lined up by Universal - will, according to Deadline, translate the same plot to a contemporary Los Angeles setting.
The director being lined up is Antoine Fuqua and, considering his credentials directing gritty crime actioners Training Day and The Equalizer, the American filmmaker seems like a good fit.
It's hard to say who could replace both Paul Muni and Al Pacino in the lead role of Antonio Camonte and Tony Montana respectively, but this being Fuqua, his first port of call will most likely be Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke whom he has worked with on numerous occasions.
The director is no stranger to remakes having directed a version of classic western The Magnificent Seven which will open this year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). It'll be released in cinemas on 27 September.
