Robert Pattinson has joked about his recent string of films that all happen to include masturbation scenes.
The actor spoke with The New York Times about his forthcoming projects including The Lighthouse, in which the 33-year-old stars opposite Willem Dafoe. The film is about two lighthouse keepers trapped on a small, remote New England island in the 1800s.
During the interview, Pattinson revealed that he has a "ferocious masturbation scene" that was exhilarating to film.
"It's always nice to do something massive for your opening shot, and I really went massive on the first take," he said. "It was a 180 from everything we'd done in rehearsal, and I could see [director Robert Eggers] a little in shock afterwards. But I was like, OK, cool, I didn't get told to stop, so I'll keep going in that direction. As soon as I'd done that, it was like the road started getting paved."
Eggers had previously referred to Pattinson's scene as "inspiring", commenting that he "really, really went for it".
Pattinson previously told Variety: "I keep masturbating. In the last three or four movies, I've got a masturbation scene... I only realised when I did it the fourth time."
It was recently announced that actor Paul Dano has joined the cast of The Batman, in which Pattinson will star as the Caped Crusader, as the supervillain The Riddler. Zoe Kravtiz has been cast as Catwoman.
