From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The cast of Legally Blonde is set to reunite for the first time in 20 years.

Reese Witherspoon, who starred as the iconic Elle Woods in the 2001 comedy, shared a teaser for the reunion on Monday.

“We laughed, we cried and we may or may not have done the bend and snap for old times’ sake!” she wrote, referring to a famous sequence from the film in which Woods teaches manicurist Paulette Bonafonté (Jennifer Coolidge) a secret move designed to command attention in a room.

Witherspoon can be seen in the teaser getting emotional as her co-stars join her via video call. Coolidge, Selma Blair (who portrayed Woods’s nemesis-turned-BFF Vivian Kensington), Holland Taylor (Professor Elspeth Stromwell), and many more appear on the screen.

Legally Blonde was released in July 2001 and earned $141m at the worldwide box office. The comedy, which has a strong fan following to this day, was nominated for two Golden Globes – one in the Best Picture – Musical or Comedy category, and one in the Best Actress – Musical or Comedy category for Witherspoon.

The film tells the story of Elle Woods, a fashion merchandising student whose boyfriend breaks up with her before enrolling into Harvard Law School. After taking the LSAT, Woods also lands a spot at the coveted institution, with the initial goal of convincing her boyfriend to get back with her – only to end up realising her true potential as a lawyer.

The Legally Blonde cast reunion will air on Tuesday 20 October on YouTube.
