At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

In 2018, a new sequel starring Reese Witherspoon was announced, and now it’s got two writers in the form of Mindy Kaling and Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-creator Dan Goor.
Witherspoon – who plays Elle Woods – is producing the film through her Hello Sunshine company, which most recently oversaw Amazon series Little Fires Everywhere.
Kaling and Goor will be hoping to capitalise on the success of the first film, which became a sleeper hit for MGM when it grossed $141.8m globally in 2001.
It follows Witherspoon’s sorority girl who decides to study law at Harvard Universit in an attempt to get her boyfriend back despite snooty opposition from the other students.
A follow-up – Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde – came in 2003, grossing $124.9m globally, with spin-off Legally Blondes being release straight-to-DVD in 2013.
Kaling wrote episodes for US sitcom The Office and, last year, wrote and starred in the comedy Late Night.
There is currently no word on a release date for Legally Blonde 3.
