From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

If you haven't been keeping up with the latest series of Dancing With The Stars (and frankly why would you?), Billy Dee Williams aka Lando Calrissian is one of the celebrities lolloping about on the dancefloor this time around.

The show's producers and choreographers were never going to be able to resist working in a Star Wars theme were they, but boy did they go for it this week.

Dressed as the rebel smuggler, Williams was joined on stage by Storm Troopers, R2-D2, and following his performance Ewoks cheers his performance from the audience.

The routine delighted Star Wars and novelty ballroom fans alike, but maddeningly the judges were not so impressed.

Bruno missed the inherent majesty of his performance saying it lacked "attack", and Carrie Ann passive aggressively described him as a "relaxed dancer".

There is no word yet on whether we'll get another glimpse of Lando in the upcoming Star Wars sequel, though it does look as though Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo will return.
