Tessa Thompson will voice the titular Lady in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp.

The Thor: Ragnarok actor will star as the posh Cocker Spaniel opposite Justin Theroux‘s titular mongrel, Tramp.

Charlie Been – best known for The Lego Ninjango Movie – will direct the remake of Disney’s 1955 animated classic.

The movie will bypass a cinema release in favour of being debuted on Disney’s upcoming streaming service which will launch next year with a host of exclusive content.

Catastrophe’s Ashley Jensen was previously announced to be voicing the character Jackie, a gender-flipped version of Jock from the original film.

Benedict Wong, of Doctor Strange fame, has been cast as English bulldog Bull, while Bad Neighbours 2 actor Kiersey Clemons will play the human owner of Lady.

Thompson has landed a string of notable roles recently, leading the forthcoming Men in Black sequel opposite fellow Thor star Chris Hemsworth.

She will lead the third season of Westworld and leads Boots Riley's comedy Sorry to Bother You alongside Lakeith Stanfield and Terry Crews, the UK release date of which is yet to be announced.
