The Oscar-winning actor, 60, who was disgraced after being accused of multiple instances of sexual misconduct, shared the minute-long video to his YouTube channel on Christmas Eve.
“You didn’t really think I was going to miss the opportunity to wish you a merry Christmas, did you?” he asks, wearing a festive jumper and sitting in front of a fireplace.
“It’s been a pretty good year and I’m grateful to have my health back. In light of that, I’ve made some changes in my life and I’d like to invite you to join me.”
Continuing in a South Carolina accent, he says: “As we walk into 2020, I want to cast my vote for more good in this world.
“Oh yes, I know what you’re thinking: ‘Can he be serious?’ I’m dead serious and it’s not that hard, trust me.
“The next time someone does something you don’t like, you can go on the attack. But you can also hold your fire and do the unexpected – you can kill them with kindness.”
The video marks the second consecutive year that Spacey has appeared in a Christmas video as Underwood.
Last year, he claimed “soon enough you will know the full truth”, which many believed was a reference to the sexual assault allegations made against him.
Earlier this year, prosecutors in the US dropped a case accusing the actor of groping a teenager at a bar in 2016, a charge he denied.
Spacey has been largely absent from the film and TV industry since the scandal, with the exception of the Christmas videos and a surprise poetry reading in Rome.
