Kate Mara of House of Cards fame has confirmed that she will be appearing in Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot, alongside fellow leads Michael B Jordan, Miles Teller and Jamie Bell.

The US actress will be taking on the part of Sue 'The Invisible Woman' Storm in the comic book adaptation, due to hit cinemas in summer 2015.

Jordan has signed on to star as Johnny 'The Human Torch' Storm, while Teller will play Reid 'Mr Fantastic' Richards and Bell, Ben 'The Thing' Grimm.

Dr Doom, the film's all-important villain, has yet to be found, but several potential actors will be tested over the next few weeks.

Mara announced the news via her Twitter account, while Jordan posted an Instagram picture of the number four alongside a caption reading "Flame on!"

The Fantastic Four tells the story of a group of young men and women who become superheroes after being exposed to cosmic rays. In true sci-fi style, they then set off on a dramatic outer space mission.

Josh Trank will be directing from a script he wrote with revisions by X-Men: Days of the Future writer Simon Kinberg, while Matthew Vaughn and Gregory Goodman are heading up production.

Fox first made Fantastic Four in 2005, before continuing with its sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, in 2007. Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis featured in both movies.

The Fantastic Four is due to be released in the US on 19 June 2015
