The long-awaited follow up to the original Jurassic Park series film is being directed by Colin Trevorrow and was co-written by the original film's director, Steven Spielberg.
The video released by Universal today reveals the impressive Jurassic World theme park, as envisioned by John Hammond - played by the late Richard Attenborough in the original 1993 film.
Reams of tourists fill the park in the trailer, where they enjoy attractions including a safari-like drive with dinosaurs; a canoe ride where a diplodocus and a stegosaurus nibble at trees nearby; and a Sea World-like water park where a giant creature devours a great white shark as spectators cheer.
But, Chris Pratt's character is soon called in to save Jurassic World when geneticists create a dinosaur hybrid that goes awol.
“You just went and made a new dinosaur? Probably not a good idea,” he says in the trailer.
“She’s a highly intelligent animal, she’ll kill anything that moves,” he later warns.
Bryce Dallas of The Help, child actor Ty Simpkins of Insiduous fame, and Judy Greer, who appears in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, all appear alongside Guardians of the Galaxy star Pratt.
Jurassic World is the fourth installment in the Jurassic Park series, which includes the original 1993 film, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), and Jurassic Park III (2001).
On the possibility of sequels, Trevorrow said recently: “We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story.”
