Jurassic World 3: Steven Spielberg confirms Colin Trevorrow as director
The Jurassic World director will return to the franchise for its third instalment
Steven Spielberg has confirmed that Jurassic World 3 will be directed by Colin Trevorrow.
The filmmaker, whose new film Ready Player One is out now, released a statement to EW stating that, despite sitting out forthcoming sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Trevorrow would return for the third entry into the dinosaur franchise reboot.
Trevorrow added: “It’s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive. I’m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. [Bayona] has brought to Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy.”
He is set to co-write the film alongside Emily Carmichael.
Bayona unveiled the trailer for Fallen Kingdom late 2017 breaking down the big moments for The Independent as well as confirming details surrounding the return of Jurassic Park character Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum). It will open on 22 June 2018.
The Jurassic World franchise stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard with the first film - released in 2015 - grossing over $1.5b at the global box office.
