The studio has now confirmed a third Jurassic World movie, along with a release date and the team of writers who will once again bring dinosaurs to cinemas.
Colin Treverrow — who co-wrote and directed the first Jurassic World, co-writing the second with Derek Connolly — returns as writer, joined by Emily Carmichael.
The third movie will reach cinemas 11 June, 2021, almost three years after the JA Bayona directed Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom touches down 22 June, 2018.
Upcoming writer Carmichael was a relatively unknown name for many years before being thrown into the limelight thanks to penning Pacific Rim Uprising. She also rewrote The Black Hole for Disney and Joseph Kosinski.
“It’s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive,” Trevorrow said, according to Variety.
“I’m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. has brought to Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy.”
Both Jurassic World films have starred Chris Pine and Bryce Dallas Howard, while the upcoming Fallen Kingdom also brings Jeff Goldblum back to the series.
