From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Because X-Men doesn't have enough spin-off movies already, Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique character may be getting a standalone film after Days of Future Past.
Wolverine has swiped at things and re-grown his beard of sorrow numerous times on the big screen, so it's really only fair that more of the mutants get a shot.
Lawrence is optioned for two more X-Men films after First Class (one of which is the upcoming Days of Future Past), with producers hinting that she could front a future title.
"There was a regime [at the studio] that didn’t see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we’re going to do right by it," producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who’s produced all of the X-Men films, told Inside Movies. "I’d like to do Gambit. I’d like to do Deadpool. We’ll see. There’s a lot of really great characters."
Writer Adam Kinberg added: "I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her, and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo."
Another outing as the all-blue Mystique would mean more long days in make-up for Lawrence, with the character's body-painting process recently being described as: "One naked girl and seven pairs of hands all over her."
