From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Jennifer Lawrence has let slip that she's been secretly writing a comedy with none other than her new best mate, Amy Schumer.
The Oscar-winning actress and stand-up comedian became friends after Lawrence emailed Schumer to declare her love after watching Trainwreck a few months ago.
"I said, 'I don't know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I'm in love with you.'," she told the New York Times. "We started emailing and then emailing turned to texting."
Schumer then invited Lawrence on a jet skiing holiday where they "hit it off" and now, they could be about to supersede Amy Poehler and Tina Fey as Hollywood's favourite girl-power couple.
"Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavours," Lawrence said. "It's been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing, and then we send each other pages, and we crack up.
"We play sisters. We're almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We've got about 100 pages right now."
Lawrence added that she was flying out to see Schumer in Chicago, where the pair would continue writing with Schumer's younger sister Kim, who worked who worked with her on Trainwreck.
As of yet there is no further news on a possible title, cast or release date, but suffice to say, we're excited.
