Jared Leto sent anal beads and used condoms to his Suicide Squad co-stars
No really. To Will Smith and everything.
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

But not this one with Jared Leto, who casually dropped into conversation with E! the fact that he sent used condoms and anal beads (among many other weird items) to the rest of the Suicide Squad cast.
Here’s the full exchange (because it’s not the sort of thing you want to be misquoted on):
E!: 'How about the gifts you gave everyone. Rats, bullets, a hog, where did that come from?'
Jared Leto: 'Don’t forget the anal beads.'
E: 'Who did you send anal beads to?'
JL: '…the used condoms'
E: 'You did not.'
JL: 'Uh, yeah *nervous laughter*. It was...'
E: 'Step back, you can’t just say "used condoms" and we’re just gonna like…'
JL: 'I know, it’s a family show, but we can educate people here. At least they were used!'
E: 'Who did you send used condoms to?!'
JL: "Oh everybody, maybe they didn’t want to tell you. I mean I did a lot of things to create a dynamic, to create an element of surprise and spontaneity and break down any kind of walls that may be there - the Joker is somebody who doesn’t really respect things like personal space or boundaries.'
Fellow cast members Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje later corroborated his story at the event.
Here are their faces upon being reminded of the 'gifts':
In his quest to go fully method, Leto apparently also sent a dead pig to the entire cast, presumably with the words ‘AM I AS GOOD AS HEATH LEDGER YET?!’ scrawled on its skin.
Suicide Squad is out 4 August.
