The Emmy Award-winning actor, who appeared in Babe and L.A. Confidential, interrupted an orca show at the San Diego, California park on 24 July and has now been charged with a misdemeanour offence of trespassing.
He faces up to 90 days in ail or a $400 fine if found guilty.
According to NME, local reports claim that Cromwell spoke over a microphone about how different orcas' lives are in captivity compared with in open water while wearing a T-shirt that read “SeaWorld sucks."
In July, 77-year-old Cromwell - whose other credits include The Artist and American Horror Story: Asylum - was sentenced to a week in Orange County Jail after refusing to pay a $375 fine for his role in a New York protest.
He was one of six environmental protestors found guilty of obstructing traffic when they staged a sit-in on the site of Competitive Power Ventures’ prospective natural gas-fired power plant in the town of Wawayanda.
Cromwell is set to star in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the follow-up to Colin Trevorrow's 2015 Jurassic Park sequel, alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
