‘James Corden must be stopped at all costs’: Twitter reacts to chaotic Golden Globe nominations

This year’s list of nominees is especially surprising, with critical flops such as Emily in Paris getting the nod, while groundbreaking dramas like I May Destroy You were snubbed completely.
On social media, many are expressing their bafflement as to why James Corden – who was widely condemned for leaning into “horrifying” gay stereotypes in The Prom – received a nomination for the Netflix film while his co-star Meryl Streep did not.
“Giving James Corden a nomination but not Meryl Streep is a crime,” wrote one person.
Another posted crying emojis with the comment: “James Corden in the same category with Dev Patel. Dev I’m so sorry.”
“James Corden must be stopped at all costs,” tweeted a third.
Others questioned why the much-derided series Emily in Paris received not one, but two nominations (including for star Lily Collins).

“I enjoyed Emily in Paris because Emily in Paris made me feel nothing and at that point in the pandemic ‘nothing’ was the best I could hope for when it came to emotions,” tweeted a fan. “But I would definitely never suggest that Emily in Paris was ‘good’.”
And the biggest crime of all was Michaela Coel’s brilliant I May Destroy You being ignored.
“Hahaha sorry am just laughing uncontrollably at a tiny group of autograph hunters who think Emily in Paris is better than I May Destroy You,” said one viewer.
