From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

James Corden has been spotted dressed as a mouse and thrusting at drivers in Los Angeles to promote his new musical.

Camera footage recorded by a Twitter user named Anthony sees a flash mob that includes Corden, Camilla Cabello, Billy Porter and Idina Menzel singing Jennifer Lopez’s “Let’s Get Loud” in the middle of LA traffic.

In the footage, Corden approaches the driver’s side of the car and sings through the window before thrusting repeatedly at the vehicle.

Corden is one of the stars and producers of Cinderella, which arrives on Amazon Prime next month. It stars Cabello as the classic fairytale princess, who is treated horribly by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters.

Menzel portrays Cinderella’s stepmother, while Pose star Porter portrays Cinderella’s gender-less “fairy godparent” Fab G. Corden appears in a supporting role as a mouse who is transformed into a human.

Many were quick to mock the clip on Twitter, with one person writing: “Imagine trying to get to work and then suddenly these people start screeching.”

Another added: “I did not need to see James Corden humping the air in a rat costume on this fine Saturday but okay.”

The skit is presumably part of a forthcoming promotional effort for the film, with Corden having previously shot a number of musical sketches as part of his US talk show.

Corden’s presence in the film drew a mixed response upon the release of Cinderella’s trailer earlier this month, with some viewers complaining that the British star has appeared in far too many musicals of late.

The actor and television personality’s recent film credits include 2014’s Into the Woods, 2020’s The Prom and the maligned movie adaptation of Cats in 2019.

Cinderella will be released exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on 3 September.
