The Bodyguard actor has long been in line to take over the role when Craig steps down after the forthcoming film and has remained coy when discussing the rumours. In January, it was reported that the second series of Jed Mercurio’s hit BBC drama had been put on hold until producers found out “what was happening with Bond”.
When asked if he’d be up for playing the main spy’s love interest – a role that’s always been played by a woman – Madden told Vogue: “Absolutely – if it was a good part.”
The former Game of Thrones actor continued: “If it was an interesting part, a ‘Bond boy’ would be an interesting dynamic. Why not?”
When asked about playing Bond, Madden previously told GQ: “Everyone just loves the rumour mill on that topic. I’m just the current one. There’ll be a different one next week.”
In October 2018, Madden was reportedly named as one of producer Barbara Broccoli’s favourites to take over from Craig after he steps down.
