Your support makes all the difference.Launching earlier this month, the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s It has already shattered numerous box-office records, quickly becoming the highest-grossing R-rater horror of all time.
As hinted at by the film’s full title — It: Chapter One — there will be a sequel. New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have now announced the second film’s release date: 6 September 2019.
While not adjusted to inflation, Chapter One has overtook The Exorcist’s global gross over the weekend, taking $478.1 million compared to the classic’s $441.3 million.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of the first film’s screenwriters, Gary Dauberman, has penned a deal to return. Director Andy Muschietti has yet to sign anything, although is expected to return.
Producers Barbara Muschietti, Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are also coming back for the sequel.
Recently, director Muschietti revealed plans to include the eternal turtle in Chapter Two, and why doing so would an important part in defeating Pennywise.
"The moment you introduce the element of IT, which is an interdimensional evil entity, the presence of the turtle comes with it, as a counterbalance," he said. Read the full comments here.
