From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

If you're one of the many who got caught up in the excitement caused by news that Step Brothers 2 was months away from filming, prepare yourself - the sequel isn't happening after all.

Numerous articles surfaced yesterday reporting that the follow-up to the beloved 2008 comedy was finally happening with all the film's original cast - Will Ferrell, John C Reilly, Richard Jenkins and Mary Steenburgen - poised to return.

The reports stated that The Big Short director Adam McKay was also returning on directing and scriptwriting duties.

Unfortunately, there is no truth to these reports; in fact, the last time McKay spoke about the potential sequel, it seemed less likely than ever.

“You know, never say never," he told IGN back in January. "Is it possible when they’re like 57/58-years old, we do a Step Brothers sequel? Maybe.”

Reflecting on the dip in quality featured in Anchorman 2, maybe we should view this as welcome news. McKay will next help out on the script for Marvel superhero sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp which is due out in 2018.
