From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Whoever said you can’t start life anew in your later years? The new trailer for indie hit I’ll See You in My Dreams proves that the answer is: only foolish people.

Blythe Danner, June Squibb, Martin Starr and Sam Elliott star in this coming-of-old-age comedy-drama about a widow who decides to start enjoying new adventures and looking at the world in a more colourful light after her beloved dog dies.

Danner’s first-time lead performance struck a particular chord with reviewers when the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2015 and you can expect lots of laughs and touching moments throughout.

The official synopsis reads: “In this vibrant, funny and heartfelt film, a widow and former songstress discovers that life can begin anew at any age.

With the support of three loyal girlfriends (June Squibb, Rhea Perlman and Mary Kay Place), Carol (Blythe Danner) decides to embrace the world, embarking on an unlikely friendship with her pool maintenance man (Martin Starr), pursuing a new love interest (Sam Elliott) and reconnecting with her daughter (Malin Akerman).”

I’ll See You in My Dreams is released in UK cinemas on 12th February, on digital download on 22nd February and on Blu-ray and DVD on 29th February.
