From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The first UK trailer for the highly anticipated documentary I Am Greta has been released.

I Am Greta focuses on the teenage Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, whose school strike in 2018 launched a global environmentalist movement.

The film, which arrives to UK and Irish cinemas in mid-October, recently debuted as part of the Venice Film Festival earlier this month.

Filmmaker Nathan Grossman and producers Cecilia Nessen (Bergman: A Year in the Life) and Fredrik Heinig (Midsommar), compiled the film, which takes a behind-the-scenes look at Thunberg’s life and work.

Previously unseen footage traces Thunberg’s journey from a politically minded schoolchild to the “voice of a generation”, culminating in her wind-powered trip across the Atlantic to deliver a speech before the UN.

Thunberg is also set to be the subject of a documentary series for the BBC, which was announced earlier this year.

The 17-year-old featured in the music video for the Pearl Jam single “Retrograde” in May, delivering a creative warning about the harm of climate change.

I Am Greta is out in cinemas from Friday, 16 October 2020.
