From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Ah, Severus Snape, a wizard whose undying love for Lily Potter led him to his death at the hands of Voldemort. Well, Harry Potter fans, mourn the misunderstood Potions Master no more as he had been found alive and well working at a New York airport.

According to the American Airlines Facebook page the wizard will be helping passenger’s board flight nine and three quarters - a "patronus jet" (but perhaps they should check their spellbook) that flies from LaGuardia to Hogwarts.

“Severus Snape will assist you in the boarding process for Flight Nine and Three Quarters from LaGuardia to Hogwarts,” reads the post.

“We’ll be boarding by Sorting House and are expecting a full flight today. Our First Class Slytherin passengers can now board the Patronus Jet.

“Please let our Flight Attendants know if you would like a pre-departure butterbeer. Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are welcome to board next.

“Last and certainly least, Gryffindor and Muggles may board.”

We can only hope the airline are still offering that pre-flight butterbeer.
