From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Ever since the announcement of a Star Wars prequel centered on Han Solo, all thoughts turned towards which actor could play the young version of the Harrison Ford character introduced in 1977's A New Hope.

Well, the search is almost over with the entirety of Hollywood now reportedly having been whittled down to just three.

Sources close to The Hollywood Reporter suggest that tests have been conducted in London over the past few weeks with Alden Ehrenreich, Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor the final actors being considered for the role.

Ehrenreich most recently starred as one of the standouts in Coen Brothers film Hail, Caesar! while Egerton has followed up his star-making turn in last year's Kingsman: The Secret Service with the upcoming Eddie the Eagle.

Reynor's list of credits includes What Richard Did, Transformers: Age of Extinction and Justin Kurzel's Macbeth in which he starred alongside Michael Fassbender.

While these are the actors still in the running, sources state that other actors may still be considered, such is the secrecy of the project.

While Disney has declined to comment, it's no stretch to assume these actors would be those who featured on the list which compiled the final eight, including Miles Teller (Whiplash), Emory Coen (Brooklyn) and Scott Eastwood (Fury).

Whichever actor is cast, they best start perfecting their Shyriiwook.

The untitled Han Solo prequel will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the duo behind 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie, and is scheduled for release in 2018.
