From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The internet may still be abuzz chatting about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but let’s not forget Solo: A Star Wars Story reaches cinemas in just over four months.

With no trailer or official images released at this stage — plus Ron Howard coming on board midway through shooting as a replacement director — some fans are worried about the movie.

Hoping to diminish those worries, LucasFilm has finally released an official synopsis for the anthology instalment. Unfortunately, the studio has decided to give absolutely nothing away.

“Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy,” the synopses reads.

“Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.”

Speaking earlier this month about the upcoming spin-off, Donald Glover — who plays Lando — commented on the director change, saying the production barely changed.

Solo: A Star Wars Story reaches cinemas 25 May, 2018.
