One of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood has finally been confirmed: Hail, Caesar!’s Alden Ehrenreich will play Han Solo in the upcoming spin-off.
The actor appeared at the Star Wars Celebration in London to confirm the news, revealing that he auditioned for the part in the Millennium Falcon alongside Chewbacca.
Our reporter, Clarisse Loughrey, who was at the panel, noted that Ehrenreich showed photos of himself as a young boy alongside his Star Wars dolls.
According to directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, the actor was the first person to audition for the part, with 3,000 other actors also trying for Han Solo.
Previously, it was reported by Deadline that Ehrenreich had the part, but this is the first official confirmation he has the role.
Plot details regarding the film are still sparse, but it was previously revealed that it will act as an origins story for Chewbacca as well.
Meanwhile, also at the Celebration, one of the Rogue One cast members revealed a possibly massive spoiler about the upcoming film.
