From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The upcoming Han Solo prequel is to explore the beloved smuggler's friendship with classic Star Wars character Lando Calrissian.

Having cast Hail, Caesar! actor Alden Ehrenreich in the role originally made famous by Harrison Ford, The Wrap reports that the hunt is now on for an actor to don the shoes (and cape) previously worn by actor Billy Dee Williams.

It is unknown which actors are being targeted, but chatter is being directed towards Michael B. Jordan (Creed) and Community's Donald Glover - both of whom have recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (in Black Panther and Spider-Man: Homecoming, respectively).

Calrissian first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back (1980) as the administrator of Cloud City and returns in Return of the Jedi (1983) as a member of the Rebel Alliance.

Interestingly, the character was the original owner of the Millennium Falcon before losing it to Han Solo in a game of Sabacc (basically the galaxy's version of poker).

It's a fair assumption that Phil Lord and Chris Miller's film will show this moment in what could well be one of the film's standout scenes.

Lucasfilm has debuted an exciting full trailer for the first of its anthology prequel films, Rogue One, which teases the presence of legendary villain Darth Vader.

The as-of-yet untitled Han Solo prequel will be released 25 May 2018.
