From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A representative for the 47-year-old confirmed that Berry gave birth on 5 October in Los Angeles.
The baby is Berry’s second child. She also has a five-year-old daughter, Nahla, with former boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
It is her first child with French actor and husband Olivier Martinez. The couple, who are both 47, married at the Chateau des Condé in Burgundy, France, in July.
The Ohio-born actress has previously been married to baseball player David Justice and R&B singer-songwriter Eric Benét.
Martinez has dated Kylie Minogue and British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, but has never been married before and has no other children.
Halle Berry said earlier this year that pregnancy would not stop her filming the role of Storm in the new X-Men film.
The actress said X-Men: Days of Future Past would be shot “around the bump”.
She also revealed she took four years off to raise her first child Nahla.
Berry won an Oscar for best actress in 2002 for her performance in Monster’s Ball. She is the only African-American woman to win an Oscar for a leading role.
