Less than two months later and another much-hyped superhero-focussed flick will finally be in cinemas: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Marvel’s first Star-Lord outing was an incredible surprise hit, becoming one of the studio’s most beloved films, often being heralded as their best. Excitement for the sequel is palpable.
Thanks to Jimmy Kimmel, the second full-length trailer has been released, debuting Kurt Russell’s Ego the Living Planet - AKA Star-Lord’s father. There are also numerous new shots of the ever-adorable Baby Groot.
A first semi-look at Ego was accidentally revealed via a toy-line last month, the film’s version sharing a similar look as Ego Prime from the comics.
Fingers crossed, we’ll still see Russell as an actual planet, hopefully with makeup reminiscent of Noel Fielding’s Moon in The Mighty Boosh.
Other than revealing Russell’s character, the clip gives away very little of the film’s overall story, the overarching villain - if there is one - still not being revealed.
One notable actor we have yet to see is Sylvester Stallone, who plays “a member of the Nova Corps” in the film. We have also yet to see any scenes set on earth.
In other Marvel Studios news, a recent piece of artwork revealed a first look at Cate Blanchett's Hela in Thor: Ragnarok.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 reaches UK cinemas 28 April.
