From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. After much teaser trailer foreplay, Guardians of the Galaxy has debuted its first full trailer on YouTube, showing off the comic book adaptation's comedy-focus and raccoon firepower.

The two-and-a-half minute trailer was aired in the US during talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, following the release of three stills from it and a 15-second teaser version.

The reaction from Marvel fans seems to have been positive so far, mostly revolving around: "OMG it's a fricking raccoon with GUNS!"

Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy follows a superhero team led by Peter Quill (Parks and Recreation's Chris Pratt), who must repossess a mysterious orb from villain Ronan the Accuser.

The other Guardians are Gamora (Zoe Saldana), the adopted daughter of Thanos, Drax the Destroyer, a warrior played by WWE wrestler Batista, Groot (Vin Diesel), a tree-like monster and Rocket, a raccoon and skilled marksman voiced by Bradley Cooper.

Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan also features, playing the nefarious Nebula.

The film looks to be pitched more towards comedy than The Avengers, with Pratt's character laughing off his 'Star-Lord' name in the trailer.
