Gillian Flynn has hinted that she could be on board for a Gone Girl sequel, after the movie adaptation of her hit thriller proved a commercial and critical success.

The US author, 43, penned the screenplay to David Fincher’s film, which starred Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike as dysfunctional married couple Nick and Amy Dunne.

“There could be a sequel at some point if everyone is game to get the gang back together,” she told the New York Daily News.

“It could be really fun a few years from now to pick it up and see what those crazy Dunnes are up to a few years down the road and if they got on – not well I don’t think.

Pike earned a Golden Globe nomination for her chilling performance as the calculated ‘Amazing Amy’ and is up for a Bafta at next month’s London ceremony too.

Were Gone Girl to return to the silver screen, Flynn would want the same actors to reprise their roles.

“I would have to have the exact same people to do it – I would want Rosamund, Ben and Fincher to do it,” she said.

Flynn is currently working with Fincher on the HBO remake of Channel 4 conspiracy thriller Utopia as well as producing a TV show based on her novel Sharp Objects and writing a comic book called Masks.

Not much time for Gone Girl 2 just yet, then.
