Rosamund Pike has opened up about filming "inappropriate" sex scenes with Gone Girl co-star Neil Patrick Harris for the first time.
The actress, who stars as neurotic wife Amy Dunne in the adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel, said she and Harris - who plays her creepy ex-boyfriend Desi Collins - were left alone for two hours to work out how to enact the sex scene.
“It was very funny doing [rehearsals for our sex] scene. David left Neil and me alone on that set for like two hours to make sure we could do it.
“But when it’s just the two of you, basically kind of f***ing on a bed, it feels so inappropriate,” the British actress told US Glamour.
Pike’s comments follow Harris’ admission earlier this year that filming sex scenes with Pike were “robotic”.
The openly gay actor said that he and Pike were asked to rehearse “every inch of the sex scene”, including how he she would put his penis in her mouth and the number of thrusts she would give.
“It was weird because we’re technically breaking down the sex scene. [Fincher] wanted it to be almost robotic, that we know exactly where we are position-wise, where everything goes,” he said.
Gone Girl, which has already been tipped by some critics as an early contender for an Oscar nomination, is released in the UK on 3 October.
