Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the Golden Globes in 2021.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will replace Ricky Gervais as Golden Globes hosts in 2021, it has been announced.

Poehler told a meeting of TV critics in Pasadena, California about the news, a week after the 2020 ceremony where Gervais took part in his fifth and final show as host.

“There are no two funnier people anywhere,” said Poehler, who introduced herself as the NBC publicist who was supposed to be opening a presentation about the network’s programming.

Poehler then joked that NBC was pleased the duo had found time for the Globes in between th eir busy schedules. Poehler and Fey have previously hosted the Globes together three times.

Gervais proved as controversial as ever at this year’s ceremony. His acerbic style received a mixed reaction from the celebrity audience, who were fed jokes that took aim at everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio to Harvey Weinstein.

Fey and Poehler have typically received a warmer reception during their hosting duties.

“There’s no denying that Tina and Amy’s comedic chemistry is infectious,” said Lorenzo Soria, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which bestows the TV and movie awards.

“We can’t wait to see the dynamic duo return to the Golden Globes stage.”
