From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The prime spot yearly offered by the Super Bowl ad break guarantees our first glimpse at some of the year's coming blockbusters; for Super Bowl 50, it's Jason Bourne's time.

The first trailer for Bourne 5 will premiere during the game, in turn finally revealing the project's full title, which has so far been kept under wraps.

The news was initially dropped on Facebook by Eric Van Lustbader, the Bourne book series' author who took over following original creator Robert Ludlum's death; in a post which has been since deleted (for unknown reasons). Lustbader wrote (via SlashFilm): "BREAKING NEWS! The first trailer for the new Bourne film will be shown during this year’s Superbowl telecast. At that time, I believe you’ll find out the title of the film. (I know it, but I’m sworn to secrecy). So tune in on February 7th to check out all the excitement. I, for one, can’t wait!!!"

The highly-anticipated film sees the return both of star Matt Damon, alongside Supremacy and Ultimatum director Paul Greengrass. All that's been teased so far of its plot comes from Damon himself, who told Entertainment Weekly (via Digital Spy): "There’s been the financial collapse, the great recession, all these issues of cyber warfare and civil liberties. We find him in a dark and tortured place." It's set, at least, to be a fairly international affair; with filming taking place in Las Vegas, London, Berlin, Washington DC, and Tenerife (standing in for Athens).

So far, each Bourne film has been named after a book in the series; the fifth Bourne book is The Bourne Betrayal. Other available titles are Sanction, Deception, Objective, Dominion, Imperative, Retribution, and Ascendancy. Lustbader's latest, The Bourne Enigma, is set for release in June, a month before Bourne 5's release; making it a strong candidate for a tie-in title for the movie. Plus, Enigma's clearly the coolest name on that list.

The film also sees the return of Julia Stiles; starring alongside Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel, Alicia Vikander, Riz Ahmed, Scott Sheperd, and Ato Essandoh.

Bourne 5 will hit UK theatres 28 July.
