From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Pictures of the Fifty Shades of Grey support cast have been revealed, giving a first look at Rita Ora in her role as Christian Grey’s sister.
The singer will make her first major movie appearance in the film as Mia Grey, described as “Christian’s lively and vivacious little sister”.
Eloise Mumford will play Anastasia Steele’s self-assured best-friend and roommate Kate Kavanagh. An aspiring journalist, she is pictured sitting at a desk typing on her laptop.
Marcia Gay Harden and Andrew Airlie are pictured in their roles as Christian Grey’s adoptive parents, Dr Grace Trevelyan Grey and Carrick Grey.
Harden will play Grey’s mother, a paediatrician who treated the businessman when he was just four years old after his mother committed suicide.
The first look at the film’s two protagonists Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, who play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, was revealed earlier this year.
The two starred in the movie’s first trailer in July, which went on to become the most-watched YouTube preview of 2014.
The second Fifty Shades of Grey trailer was released earlier this month and shows Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey getting dressed ready for work.
The two teaser clips have been criticised for their lack of erotic scenes, with many nicknaming the first trailer “fifty shades of tame”.
The second trailer, which shows the two leads falling in love and dancing together, appeared to show the film as more of a romantic comedy than “mummy porn”.
Fifty Shades of Grey is based on the best-selling erotic trilogy by EL James, which has sold over 100 million copies worldwide.
EL James has written the screenplay to the forthcoming film, which sees Sam Taylor Johnson in the director's chair.
Fifty Shades of Grey is due to be released in time for Valentine’s Day on 13 February 2015.
