Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Following the record-breaking debut trailer, the second clip from Fifty Shades Darker has reached the internet, just in time to play before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Of course, the chances of that happening are incredibly slim: where Disney’s Star Wars spin-off is aimed at children, Fifty Shades Darker is aimed at a more adult audience.

In trailer number two, things get raunchier than before, with Anastasia taking off her underwear mid-way through a meal, Christian Grey rubbing oil on his lover, and - heaven forbid - lots of gawking. Expect an angry think piece from the Daily Mail momentarily.

Fifty Shades Darker continues the misadventures of college student Anastasia (Dakota Johnson), caught up in the covert sexual shenanigans of business tycoon Christian (Jamie Dornan), a man described both as a romantic hero and an abusive creep - depending on who you're talking to.

Of course, Fifty Shades of Grey abruptly ended with Anastasia leaving Christian after realising the pair are simply incompatible, though it's a separation unlikely to last; the sequel picking up with Christian's attempts to entice Ana back into his life, which she accepts under a new arrangement of her choosing.

However, their temporary bliss is interrupted by the return of shadowy figures from Christian's past; promising plenty of steamy drama, with the final film in the trilogy Fifty Shades Freed pitched for a 2018 release.

Fifty Shades Darker hits UK cinemas 10 February 2017.
