From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Further proving his musical prowess, Father John Misty has done something that should have been done a long time ago: he's written lyrics to the House of Cards theme tune.

The opening titles for Netflix's political drama, which stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, currently features a piece of tense, but no less patriotic music composed by Jeff Beal.

Without any particular reason, the musician sent out a series of tweets that he then branded "official lyrics to House of Cards theme by Josh Tillman."

Despite not knowing how 'official' they actually are, we're sure they'd get the approval of President Frank Underwood. Maybe.

The former Fleet Foxes drummer is known for his irreverent musings including a recently fabricated backstory as to how he came to work on Beyoncé's latest surprise record.

Lemonade's second track "Hold Up" - which memorably samples "Maps" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs - was collectively (and rather uniquely) co-written by Misty alongside Diplo, Soulja Boy and Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koening.

Should you be wanting to sing along to the House of Cards theme tune, feel free to give it a go:

Father John Misty will play three dates at London's Roundhouse from 18-20 May as well as a few festivals this summer, including Bilbao BBK and NOS Alive.
