The Fast and Furious family just got a little bigger.

John Cena has joined the franchise, with Vin Diesel and the former WWE wrestler appearing in an Instagram video together to announce the news.

There are few details known about Cena's character other than he plays “a badass".

Deadline also report that Dwayne Johnson – who will appear as his Fast and Furious character in the spin-off Hobbs and Shaw – will not appear in the next main-series instalment.

Johnson and Diesel allegedly feuded while filming of the last Fast and Furious film. While it was reported that Universal was keeping the two actors apart on the film's press tour, Diesel later poured water on his fallout with Johnson, making it clear the two had made up.

The Fast and Furious franchise also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jason Statham, Scott Eastwood, Kurt Russell and Charlize Theron, who is expected to reprise her role of the villainous Cypher.

A tenth instalment in the franchise has already been confirmed by Diesel.
