It was well known Josh Trank was having huge production issues, with the director infamously Tweeting out before the film’s release that it was not his film.
Doctor Doom actor Toby Kebell has since detailed how there’s a much better cut of the film out there, but we will never get to see it.
“I tell you, the honest truth is [Trank] did cut a great film that you’ll never see”, he told The Daily Beast. “That is a shame. A much darker version, and you’ll never see it”.
The actor, currently promoting Warcraft, added that he never got to play Doom properly as another actor played the Marvel villain on numerous occasions.
“Unfortunately. I played Doom in three points: walking down a corridor, killing the doctor and getting into the time machine, and lying on the bench. They were the only times I played Doom. Everything else was some other guy, on some other day… doing some other thing. I was infuriated that he was allowed to limp like that!”
Fingers crossed Trank’s cut somehow leaks onto the internet at some stage. While speaking to The Independent, Kebbell recently spoke about his role in the upcoming Ben-Hur remake, detailing whether - like in the 1959 film - it would have homosexual overtones.
