The latest information comes courtesy of new character posters, one of which features Colin Farrell’s character Percival Graves, one of the highest-ranking wizarding officials in New York.
Notably, swinging from a chain is a little pendant that fans of the Harry Potter series will instantly recognise as being the Deathly Hallows symbol.
For those not invested in Harry Potter mythology, or who have perhaps forgotten the films, the Deathly Hallows are three magical items - the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Cloak of Invisibility - that were created by Death. According to legend, whoever possesses all three would become invincible.
Around the time Fantastic Beasts takes place, in the early 1920s, a dark wizard named Gellert Grindelwald used the Deathly Hallows symbol as his own personal mark as he searched for the mythical items. In an earlier trailer, Seraphina Picquery - played by Carmen Ejogo - mentions Grindelwald’s operations in Europe. Perhaps Graves will link him to the US adventure?
Meanwhile, JK Rowling recently published a short story on the founding of the Magical Congress about the United States of America. However, fans discovered a notable mistake in the story.
