Ma, who also goes by the name Don Lee and portrays hero Gilgamesh in the film, posted a photograph of himself to Instagram, along with a card and care package from his bosses at Marvel.
Eagle-eyed viewers, however, noticed that in the background appears to be an illustrated poster of the film’s cast – which would be the first official image from the movie to be released.
The poster appears to show ten members of the film’s ensemble cast in a traditional heroes stance.
Famously tight-lipped Marvel hasn’t yet demanded Ma take down the photograph, so it may be unrelated to the film entirely, but it remains intriguing.
The Eternals stars Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek and Kumail Nanjiani as members of an elite squad of aliens tasked with protecting humanity.
The star-studded cast also includes Barry Keoghan, Gemma Chan and Brian Tyree Henry.
Initially pegged for release this November, The Eternals was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent shuffling of Black Widow’s release.
The film will now be released on 12 February, 2021, and is expected to kick off Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
