From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has confirmed that he will star in a DC film, which probably takes place in the same universe as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and could lead up to the Justice League movie.

Because he's The Rock, Johnson told AP he has the choice of playing superhero Shazam or arch-nemesis Black Adam.

"I am putting my heart and soul and my bones into this role," he added.

The wrestler-turned-action-hero previously hinted at the movie, teasing: "Just say the word…That's all I'm going to say" during an interview, surely a reference to "Shazam", the word Billy Batson says in order to transform into his superhero alter ego.

Johnson didn't say whether or not his character would appear in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel, but if not it's very possible the superheroes will collide in the Justice League movie planned for 2017.

He starred in Hercules this summer, and will next appear in Fast & Furious 7.
