From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The first trailer for Dumb and Dumber To has been unveiled on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show, seeing Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels leap back into the roles of perpetual idiots Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne.

The trailer sees the characters 20 years on, with Harry tracking down Lloyd at a mental hospital, where he has been pretending to be crazy for decades simply for the gag.

The pair later learn that Harry has a daughter (whom Lloyd is harbouring a crush on) and set about tracking her down.

Despite the actors having gone on to much more serious roles (Daniels recently headed up the cast of The Newsroom, Carrey's films include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) they are back on gleefully silly form here, shouting and screaming and gurning and generally throwing themselves around the set.

The trailer sees arson at a motel, the pair take a pit stop in the middle of a highway and the return of their infamous dog van.

The Farrelly brothers are back to direct the sequel, which will also see a cameo from Jennifer Lawrence.

Carrey and Daniels appeared on Fallon as the trailer premiered, also doing a sketch with the host called 'Real People, Fake Arms'.

Dumb and Dumber To has a US release date of 14 November in the US and opens in UK cinemas a month later on 19 December.
