Your support makes all the difference.Last month, news spread that Disney was joking to acquire Fox, share prices for both companies to increase as a result. Hours later, though, the talks were said to have broken down to nothing.
However, fresh rumours have begun spreading about a merger between the two. Hollywood trade publication Deadline reports that talks regarding Fox’s film studio are still ongoing.
“I just want to start with a juicy rumour that is fast gaining steam in town today, that Disney is progressing speedily toward that rumoured acquisition of Fox,” writes their insider.
“The version I heard has the Murdoch clan keeping possession of sports and news properties, and the rest of TV and the film studio going to Disney.”
Neither Disney nor Fox has commented on the situation, but consider Disney managed to acquire Lucasfilm without rumours spreading beforehand, there’s a possibility talks are happening.
According to the report, many people around Hollywood are not thrilled about the news, nervous about another major studio coming under the Disney wing.
On the opposite end of the spectrum are Marvel fans, who are hoping a merger between the two could mean X-Men and Fantastic Four eventually join Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe.
