From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Who would have thought a series focussed on a super-villain named Gru and thousands of tiny yellow creatures would spawn numerous feature length films, the last of which - Minions - grossed over $1.1 billion?
After four years, the main-series is finally back for Despicable Me 3, with Steve Carrell, Kristen Wiig, and Steve Coogan all back for the sequel.
Universal has released the film's second trailer, debuting Gru’s richer and equally evil twin-brother, Dru, who is also voiced by Carrell. Notably, the Minions only make a fleeting appearance once more, the main concern being the brothers.
During the first trailer, we were offered an extended look at Balthazar Bratt, the child star turned ‘80s style supervillain voiced by South Park’s Trey Parker.
Other actors to feature in the film include Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, and Nev Scharrell. Despicable Me 3 hits cinemas in summer 2017.
