Deadpool stormed cinemas last year, breaking numerous box-office records for 'adult-rated’ films.

Much of the superhero flick’s success was down to the ever-hilarious Ryan Reynolds, the real life embodiment of the Merc with a Mouth who spent seemingly every waking hour promoting the film.

With work underway on the sequel — Josh Brolin hitting the gym and new cast members being announced — Reynolds has already begun teasing the upcoming film.

Over the weekend, Reynolds posted a photo of himself in Deadpool costume, lying outside the X-Mansion, home of the X-Men.

“Dropped by the X-Mansion,” the accompanying message reads. “Big fucking surprise. No one's home.”

Recently, Shioli Kutsuna joined the film’s cast in an undisclosed ‘key role’, with Jack Kesy also being cast as an unknown character. They will join Reynolds, Brolin (playing the character Cable), and Zazi Beats, who will portray Domino.

Meanwhile, details regarding X-Men: Dark Phoenix — the next instalment in the main series X-Men films — have been announced, including the return of Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy, along with the rumoured casting of Jessica Chastain.

Deadpool 2 reaches cinemas 1 June, 2018, X-Men: Dark Phoenix coming 2 November, 2018 and spin-off The New Mutants on 13 April 2018.
