From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A new trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix has been released, further teasing Sophie Turner‘s second performance as Jean Grey.

The two-minute clip, unveiled on Wednesday, focuses heavily on Turner’s character as she struggles to control her power.

“When I lose control, bad things happen. But it feels good,” Grey says in the clip.

Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Charles Xavier), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler, Evan Peters (Quicksilver) and Alexandra Shipp (Storm) all feature in the newly unveiled teaser.

Jessica Chastain also appears as an enigmatic shape shifter who becomes interested in Grey and in her power.

Towards the end of the teaser, Grey, whose powers have wreaked destruction around her, faces off with the ever-powerful Magneto, using her power to shatter his iconic helmet.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be released on 5 June in the UK and 7 June in the US.
