From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The Slumdog Millionaire and Trainspotting director has teamed up with Underworld's Rick Smith and chart star Emeli Sande for the soundtrack of his new film, Trance.
Smith, who masterminded the music for the Olympic ceremony, has written and recorded the original score for the psychological thriller.
Double Brit Award winner Sande, who performed at London 2012, sings on and has co-written one of the tracks.
The vocals of actress Rosario Dawson, who began dating Boyle after she was cast in Trance, can also be heard on one of the songs.
Smith, who is one half of the dance duo Underworld, said that working on Trance was "creatively exciting and inspiring".
"I started work on Trance almost immediately after the Olympics and it was a seamless progression," he added.
Sande said: "It was wonderful to work with Rick again after the amazing time I had with him putting together the track for the opening ceremony at the Olympics.
"I was honoured to be asked to collaborate with him again for the film and, with his help, I believe we have created something very special."
Boyle said: "Trance reaches back to the darker more anarchic spirit of films like Trainspotting on which Rick was a key collaborator."
Trance, which stars James McAvoy, is the story of a fine art auctioneer and a criminal gang who join forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting.
The film will be Oscar-winner Boyle's first since 127 Hours in 2010, the true story of a mountain climber's battle to survive after he becomes trapped in a canyon.
